Fazzi Associates Announces The Coding Academy - Home care and Hospice

Fazzi AssociatesThe Coding Academy: Your Top Five Questions Answered

It is clear that home care is well aware - and concerned - about the healthcare industry's steady move to the new ICD-10 system. In fact, The Coding Academy's first venture in educating and supporting the home care industry's movement into ICD-10 - the free January 19, 2012 webinar - has almost reached capacity. To reserve your seat, sign up now.

We also see the impact of ICD-10 on the industry reflected in the number of responses we received from our announcement on The Coding Academy. Hundreds of you have already signed up to be members. Many had questions. Below we've responded to your top five questions on The Coding Academy.

What is The Coding Academy?

The Coding Academy is a national academy dedicated to helping home care and hospice agencies make the transition into ICD-10 and beyond. We developed The Coding Academy with one goal in mind: To help agencies prepare for ICD-10 implementation on October 1, 2013.

What services are provided under The Coding Academy?

Everything you need to be ICD-10 ready! ICD-10 Testing. Certification Programs. Outsourced Real-Time Coding Services. Internal Coding Audits. On-Site and Online Competency Trainings. National ICD-10 Coding Conferences.

What is the cost to become a member of The Coding Academy?

Nothing! Membership is free. Our vision for the Academy is that it will create an opportunity for collaboration, education, and that shared critical thinking that we will all need in the ICD-10 world. Our decision is that we will not charge to belong to the Academy, or the monthly webinars that we sponsor with our Academy Board of Faculty. Later, for agencies who are interested, there will be optional services such as our Coding Testing Service or our Outsource Coding Services where there will be a charge.

What are the benefits to becoming a member?

In addition to the free monthly webinar trainings, you'll receive free access to our exclusive online resources page which includes: Archived video trainings, a Coding Academy discussion board moderated by our coding faculty, links to important resources, the ICD-10 Toolbox, shared monthly surveys conducted to Academy members with results on your colleagues' strategies for ICD-10, and discounts on our paid coding services (e.g., Outsource Coding, Testing).

How can I learn more?

Click here to become a member now or sign up for our free webinar session on January 19, 2012 at 1:00 PM Eastern. You'll hear from healthcare professionals who have implemented ICD-10 successfully and learn how they did it. You'll get important tips on what you should be doing now to prepare. And, all participants will receive a free ICD-10 Fact Sheet with important ICD-10 updates you need to know now! To learn more about The Coding Academy or to sign up for our free webinar session, visit The Coding Academy Webpage or e-mail me at mduerr@fazzi.com.

Palmetto GBA Focused Review Alert for Home Health Agencies

describe the image

Home Health Agency Alert

Over the last several weeks, home health agencies have noticed a sharp increase in the number of ADR requests. Please know that this is not related to the HIPAA 5010 transition.  It has been brought to our attention by the Focus Review Department at Palmetto GBA that they have issued a 16 state service probe review for up to 35 claims per agency which may cause agencies to receive a delay in payments as well as receive an Additional Documentation Request (ADR).

Home Care Software Solutions was approved by Palmetto GBA for ANSI 5010 production on November 22, 2011 and successfully updated our clients without the need for each agency to contact Palmetto GBA directly for set-up.  CareSmart AMS & the 5010 update did not create a delay in payments from Palmetto GBA to home health agencies.

Home Care Software Achieves 5010 Readiness

HIPAA 5010 Ready

Home Care Software announces that the CareSmart AMS software has received notification of HIPAA 5010 readiness for the following intermediaries and clearinghouses:

  • NGS  (MEDICARE)
  • PALMETTO GBA (MEDICARE)
  • MEDICAID (EDS)
  • EMDEON
  • GATEWAY EDI -   INSTITUTIONAL CLAIMS

The federal government mandated that all covered entities (including providers, clearinghouses and health plans) must transition to the latest version of the Health Insurance Portability and
Accountability Act (HIPAA) electronic transaction standards and code sets.

January 1, 2012: The 5010 version of the electronic transactions standards will replace the current 4010 version.

Key transaction areas affected by the 5010 implementation:

  • Eligibility
  • Claim Inquiry
  • Auth and Referral
  • Premium Payment
  • Enrollment
  • Remittance
  • Claim Submission

As you know, these changes
seek to reduce the administrative burden of health care by increasing the consistency, accuracy and efficiency of electronic transaction interchanges.

Home Care Software will continue to post additional intermediaries and clearinghouses as the CareSmart AMS continues the testing process.

CareSmart AMS clients should contact their account manager with any questions.
